Role OverviewAs an Accounts and Client Portfolio Manager, you will take ownership of a diverse client portfolio, delivering high-quality service across accounts, tax, and VAT within a modern Accountancy environment. This Accounts and Client Portfolio Manager position offers a salary of £50,000-£65,000 (DOE) based in Stevenage is designed for individuals operating at Senior Accountant or Client Manager level who are ready to step up into a more strategic, client-facing leadership role.
The Accounts and Client Portfolio Manager will play a key role in overseeing delivery, supporting junior staff development, and ensuring consistent technical standards across a varied portfolio.
Key Responsibilities*Manage a varied portfolio of clients, acting as the main point of contact
*Lead preparation and review of year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
*Oversee personal and corporate tax return compliance work
*Manage VAT submissions and support resolution of complex client queries
*Supervise, mentor, and develop junior team members
*Ensure all client work is delivered accurately and within deadlines
*Support workflow planning and continuous improvement within the practice
*Maintain and strengthen long-term client relationships across the portfolio
What We’re Looking For*Strong background in practice, ideally at Senior Accountant or Client Manager level
*Confident managing client relationships and reviewing accounts and tax work
*Strong technical knowledge of accounts preparation, tax, and VAT
*Experience mentoring or supervising junior staff
*Excellent organisational and communication skills
*Ability to manage multiple deadlines and client priorities effectively
