Full job descriptionAn established international financial services business is looking for an Interim Assistant Accountant to join its Finance team in Paddington. This is a hands-on role supporting month-end reporting, statutory and tax activity, payments, budgets, audit preparation and finance projects across a multi-location environment.


The role would suit a capable accounting professional who enjoys variety, can work accurately to deadlines and is comfortable supporting a busy finance function in a regulated, international setting.


Duties
*Support monthly finance reporting and ensure recurring month-end tasks are completed accurately and on time.
*Assist with financial statements, management accounts, ledger management, invoice processing and related finance tasks.
*Prepare and support corporation tax and VAT return information for review by the tax team.
*Support the external year-end audit process and help maintain a clean audit trail.
*Oversee accurate payment processes and support timely payment completion.
*Provide budget support, ensure significant items are correctly reported and challenge budget holders on spend and variances.
*Support departmental projects and wider finance initiatives as required.
*Work in line with internal policies, procedures and financial controls.


Ideal candidate profile
*Strong accounting skills with a good understanding of accounting processes.
*Experience across statutory accounting, tax accounting and/or financial management.
*Good Excel skills and intermediate to advanced MS Office capability.
*Analytical, detail-focused and comfortable interpreting financial data.
*Experience with multi-currency transactions and cross-border reconciliations would be highly relevant.
*Experience in the payments or financial services sector would be useful, but is not essential.
*Clear communicator with good written and verbal English.
*Able to work independently, take initiative and manage priorities effectively.
*Relevant accounting or finance experience is required. Full ACCA/CIMA qualification is not required.
*Able to meet standard financial services screening requirements.


Package
*Hourly rate: £35,000-£38,000
*Interim assignment: Interim.
*Location: Paddington, on-site 5 days per week.
