Finance Assistant (Accounts Payable Focus) Location: Tamworth (5 days onsite)
Contract: 12-month Fixed-Term Contract
Salary: £28,000 - £32,000 (depending on experience)
Start Date: ASAP
About the RoleWe’re seeking a detail-oriented Finance Assistant with a strong focus on Accounts Payable (AP) to join our finance team on a 12-month fixed-term basis. This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys taking ownership of high-volume transactional processes.
Working closely with the wider finance team, you’ll play a key role in ensuring supplier invoices are processed accurately and efficiently, maintaining strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
Key ResponsibilitiesAccounts Payable (Primary Focus):
*Processing high volumes of supplier invoices, ensuring accuracy and timely posting
*Matching, batching, and coding invoices to correct cost centres and accounts
*Managing the AP inbox and resolving invoice queries promptly
*Preparing and processing weekly/monthly payment runs
*Reconciling supplier statements and investigating discrepancies
*Maintaining supplier records and setting up new accounts
General Finance Support:
*Assisting with bank reconciliations and cash postings
*Supporting month-end close processes
*Assisting with accruals and prepayments where required
*Providing general administrative support to the finance team
*Supporting audits and compliance checks
About You*Previous experience in a Finance Assistant / Accounts Payable role (essential)
*Comfortable working in a high-volume, fast-paced AP environment
*Strong attention to detail and accuracy
*Good understanding of accounting principles and finance processes
*Proficient in Excel and finance systems (experience with ERP systems advantageous)
*Excellent organisational and communication skills
*A proactive, team-oriented approach with the ability to meet deadlines
