Randstad Student Support is seeking experienced one-on-one Study Skills Support Workers to assist university students in Aberdeen who have specific learning difficulties (SpLDs). This is a chance to make a tangible difference in a student’s educational journey. The role is a hybrid model, offering flexibility with both in-person and online sessions, and we are looking for someone to start as soon as possible.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Specialist Study Skills Support Worker, you will provide personalized learning support, including:
*Developing individual learning plans to promote independence.
*Building on student strengths and effective learning strategies.
*Enhancing organization and time management skills.
*Creating structured action plans to help students stay on track.
*Improving research and comprehension abilities.
*Managing a caseload of students effectively and professionally.
Experience with students on the autism spectrum is a significant advantage.
Essential CriteriaTo be considered for this position, you must have:
*Prior teaching or tutoring experience, or
*In-depth knowledge of specific learning difficulties.
Desirable SkillsThe ideal candidate will also possess:
*Experience working with individuals who have specific learning difficulties.
*Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
*The ability to identify and build on a student’s learning strengths while maintaining a confidential and professional relationship.
*A high degree of punctuality and reliability.
*Strong organizational skills.
*Membership in a relevant professional body, such as:
*The Professional Association of Teachers of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties (PATOSS)
*British Dyslexia Association (BDA)
*The Association of Dyslexia Specialists in Higher Education (ADSHE)
*Dyslexia Guild (DG)
