The Finance Officer will support the day-to-day financial operations of a mission-driven organisation operating across charitable, investment, and cultural entities. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised, proactive, and detail-oriented individual looking to develop their career in a purpose-led environment.
Working closely with senior leadership (COO/CFO) and the wider team, the Finance Officer will play a key role in ensuring financial processes are accurate, efficient, and well maintained. The role will involve supporting payment processing, maintaining financial records, monitoring cash flow, assisting with monthly reporting, and helping ensure strong financial controls across the organisation.
The successful candidate will be highly organised, trustworthy, and comfortable working across a variety of tasks in a fast-paced and collaborative environment, with a positive, can-do attitude and a willingness to learn and grow.
This role is 3 days per week, 3 days in the office. The salary is pro-rated.
Duties & Responsibilities
Financial Administration
*Process supplier payments, staff expenses, and other financial transactions accurately and in a timely manner across multiple entities
*Review and process employee and contractor expense claims, ensuring appropriate supporting documentation and approvals
*Maintain and update financial records, including cash books and accounting systems
*Support the preparation and processing of invoices, payment runs, and reconciliations
*Ensure all payments are authorised in line with approval processes and delegated authority frameworks
*Maintain organised digital and physical financial records


Reporting, Reconciliations & Cash Flow
*Assist with monthly bank reconciliations across multiple accounts and entities
*Support the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports
*Monitor and track cash flow, identifying potential issues or variances
*Track expenditure against budgets and flag discrepancies
*Maintain grant payment schedules for the organisation’s foundation or charitable arm
*Assist in preparing information required for audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting


Operational Support
*Support the implementation and maintenance of financial controls and processes
*Liaise with suppliers, banks, and external advisors where required
*Collaborate with colleagues across the organisation to support operational effectiveness
*Provide general administrative support to the finance function


Required Experience and Attributes
Experience
*Previous experience in a finance, bookkeeping, or accounts administration role desirable
*Experience using accounting software and Microsoft Excel
*Experience processing payments, reconciling accounts, or maintaining financial records advantageous
*Experience supporting multi-entity structures or working across both charitable and commercial operations advantageous
*Experience within a small organisation or mission-driven environment beneficial but not essential

*Strong numerical and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
*Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively
*Good written and verbal communication skills
*Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
*Willingness to learn and develop within the role
