Full job descriptionWe are supporting a well-established and growing commercial vehicle business in Preston with the recruitment of an experienced HGV Mechanic. Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 17:00
Salary: £45,000 OTE plus excellent benefits
£2,500 Joining Bonus upon successful completion of probation
Key Responsibilities in this HGV Mechanic role:*Carrying out maintenance, servicing, and repairs on trucks (no trailer work involved)
*Interpreting instructions from job cards and repair orders accurately
*Diagnosing faults and completing repairs in line with manufacturer standards
*Recording all work completed and reporting any additional faults identified
*Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment
*Attending manufacturer and technical training to stay up to date with the latest developments
*Supporting the wider workshop team and contributing to efficient day-to-day operations
*Ensuring all work is completed in line with health & safety regulations and company procedures
*Enhancing the reputation of the business through high-quality workmanship and professionalism
About You – HGV Mechanic Experience*Minimum 3 years’ experience working within an HGV, commercial vehicle, agricultural, or related workshop environment
*City & Guilds Level 3 qualification in HGV Mechanics (or equivalent)
*Post-apprenticeship experience within a fast-paced workshop setting would be highly desirable
*Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
*Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
*Positive attitude with excellent communication skills
*Full clean UK driving licence
