Salary: Up to £45,000 + £5.7K Car Allowance + 10% Bonus
Working Arrangement: Hybrid Working
Hours: 40 hours per week
Our client, a growing Main Contractor with a strong pipeline of secured work, is looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor to join their Fire & Security division based in Oldham.
This is an excellent opportunity for a developing QS who is a few years post-university, although candidates with less commercial experience but a strong Fire & Security background will also be considered.
The business works with a range of blue-chip food retail clients and currently has a busy, expanding division with a supportive and collaborative team environment.
The Role
Working within a small commercial team, the successful candidate will support the financial and contractual management of projects from award through to final account.
Key responsibilities will include:
*Reviewing and interpreting contract terms and conditions
*Placing and managing subcontractor and supplier orders
*Managing variations and valuing additional works
*Completing and agreeing final accounts
*Producing monthly commercial reporting and CVRs
*Negotiating rates and variations with subcontractors
*Identifying and managing commercial risk
*Supporting value engineering exercises
*Assisting with cost control and project profitability
Pre-construction responsibilities will be minimal, as the Project Managers undertake the estimating function.
Candidate Requirements
The ideal candidate will:
*Be at Surveyor level with circa 2-4 years’ post-graduate experience
*OR come from a Fire & Security background with transferable commercial experience
*Have strong commercial awareness and communication skills
*Be organised and capable of managing multiple projects/workstreams
*Have experience administering contracts and managing subcontractors
*Be keen to develop within a busy and growing division
