We’re now looking for an experienced Tool Hire Mechanic / Workshop Mechanic to join our team and support our continued growth.
The Role
This is a hands-on, varied role where no two days are the same. You’ll work on a wide range of equipment—from power tools and small plant machinery to petrol engines and electrical systems—ensuring everything leaving our workshop is safe, compliant, and reliable.
Key Responsibilities
*Diagnose, repair, and service a wide range of hire tools and small plant equipment
*Troubleshoot electrical (110v & 240v), mechanical, and petrol/diesel faults
*Carry out pre-hire and post-hire inspections to ensure equipment safety and compliance
*Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing
*Test and sign off equipment to a high standard before hire
*Maintain accurate records using the workshop management system
*Keep the workshop clean, organised, and compliant with Health & Safety standards
*Manage stock of spare parts and consumables
*Provide technical advice to colleagues and occasional support to customers
What We’re Looking For
*Proven experience as a Tool Mechanic, Plant Technician, or similar role
*Strong diagnostic skills across electrical, mechanical, and engine systems
*Ability to read technical diagrams and use diagnostic tools (e.g. multimeters)
*Good understanding of LOLER, PUWER, and safe workshop practices
*Attention to detail with a commitment to high-quality workmanship
*Full UK driving licence (required)
