Are you a compassionate, resilient, and dedicated individual looking to make a real difference in the lives of children with complex needs? We are seeking a School Support Worker to join a highly nurturing specialist setting in High Wycombe, supporting pupils with complex medical needs, autism, and severe and multiple learning difficulties.
As a School Support Worker in High Wycombe, you will play a vital role in promoting independence, communication, sensory regulation, and emotional wellbeing for children who require high levels of personalised support. The school provides a warm, structured, and therapeutic environment where every child is valued and understood.
Key Responsibilities
*Provide 1:1 and small-group support for children with complex medical needs, autism, and profound learning difficulties.
*Assist with personal care, mobility, and medical routines (training provided).
*Use visual aids, sensory strategies, and communication tools (PECS, Makaton, AAC).
*Implement behaviour regulation plans with a calm, patient, and consistent approach.
*Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support teams.
*Help create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
About You
*Compassionate, reliable, and able to build trust with children who have high levels of need.
*Willing to undertake training in medical support, moving & handling, and specialist communication.
*Able to remain calm under pressure and adapt to changing needs.
*Experience with SEN, care, support work, or health & social care is desirable but not essential.
