Job Description:
Full job descriptionSummary We’re looking for an Internal Communications & Engagement Manager to play a key role in connecting people to our purpose, our strategy and each other. Working across programmes, projects and organisational priorities, you’ll design and deliver engaging internal communications that inform, inspire and create meaningful dialogue. This is a role for someone who enjoys working with complexity, values collaboration and inclusion, and brings confidence, creativity and curiosity to how people experience communications at work.
What it’s like to work here You’ll be part of the Communications & Fundraising directorate, working closely with colleagues across internal communications, people teams and operational areas. The team operates at both national and regional level, with a strong emphasis on partnership, shared learning and continuous improvement. You’ll work with a wide range of stakeholders, including senior leaders, project teams, staff and volunteers, in an environment that encourages thoughtful challenge, inclusive leadership and experimentation. The work is varied and fast-moving, with a clear focus on helping everyone feel informed, engaged and valued.
As this is a national role, there is flexibility on your contractual place of work. Our hybrid working policy means you can balance office and home working with site visits and meetings at other National Trust places. We’ll talk about this in more detail at interview, but you should expect to be at a National Trust site for 40–60% of your working week.
What you’ll be doing In this role, you’ll develop and deliver internal communications and engagement plans for programmes, campaigns and organisational change, ensuring they align with the wider communications strategy. You’ll provide trusted advice to senior stakeholders, helping them move towards more engaging, audience-led and two-way communication approaches. You’ll plan and deliver internal events and communications activity that build understanding, advocacy and connection for staff and volunteers. You’ll also measure impact, use insight to improve activity, and support a culture of self-service by promoting effective tools, templates and best practice. A key part of the role is contributing to cultural change by supporting inclusive communication, encouraging feedback and creating ways to recognise and celebrate people’s contributions.
You can view the full role profile for this role in the document attached. You don’t need to have all of the knowledge, skills and experience listed in the role profile; this is just to provide a full picture of what’s possible in this role.
