Are you a practical, organised individual with a passion for science and supporting education? Do you enjoy working behind the scenes to help deliver engaging experiments and hands-on learning in a college environment?
We are currently recruiting for a Science Technician to join a well-established further education provider in Northampton. This is a full-time opportunity with the preference for a permanent appointment, although long-term temp-to-perm arrangements will also be considered for the right candidate.
This role would suit someone with a scientific background who enjoys working in a dynamic educational environment and supporting both staff and students across a range of science courses.
About the RoleAs a Science Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the Science department, ensuring practical lessons run smoothly, safely, and effectively.
Your responsibilities will include:
*Preparing and setting up equipment, materials, and chemicals for practical lessons
*Supporting lecturers with demonstrations and practical activities when required
*Maintaining, cleaning, and organising laboratory equipment and workspaces
*Ensuring all health and safety regulations are followed, including the safe handling and disposal of chemicals
*Monitoring stock levels and ordering laboratory supplies as needed
*Carrying out routine equipment checks and basic maintenance
*Assisting with risk assessments and ensuring compliance with safety standards
Who We’re Looking ForWe are looking for someone who is:
*Experienced in a science-related environment (laboratory experience, science degree, or previous technician experience preferred)
*Highly organised and methodical, with strong attention to detail
*Confident in following health and safety procedures and maintaining a safe laboratory environment
*A proactive and reliable team player with strong communication skills
*Passionate about supporting science education and student success
Previous experience within an educational setting is desirable but not essential.
