Here at Bournemouth & Poole College, we have an exciting opportunity for Academic Support Assistants to join our dedicated and supportive team on a term-time only, permanent basis.
With working hours ranging from 18.5 to 35 hours per week, making it ideal for those seeking a role that supports work–life balance. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £10,113.87 – £19,134.34 per annum (£24,520 per annum FTE).
You will be employed through Southern Educational Professional Services Ltd, a subsidiary of the College.
The Role
As an Academic Support Assistant, you will provide high-quality academic and pastoral support to students with additional needs, helping them to successfully engage with and complete their programmes of study. Working closely with teaching staff, you will support students on a one-to-one or small group basis, both in and out of the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
*Working under the direction of teaching staff to deliver specialist academic support
*Supporting learners with English and maths, Autism, and/or specific learning difficulties
*Encouraging students to develop independence and confidence in their learning
*Supporting students during teaching sessions by clarifying instructions, checking understanding, and recapping learning
*Providing tailored support outside the classroom, including Study Centre sessions
About You
You will ideally have:
*Experience using online record-keeping systems
*Confidence using digital systems and Microsoft Office
*Experience engaging with individuals of different ages and academic levels
*An understanding of additional learning needs and disabilities
*Knowledge and awareness of safeguarding
