Location: South Yorkshire / Sheffield area
Salary: £28,000 - £30,800 DOE
An established manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Production Controller to join its Operations team. This is a pivotal role focused on production performance, schedule adherence, and data-driven decision-making within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring production plans are achieved, operational risks are identified early, and accurate reporting supports effective operational control.
Key Responsibilities
*Monitor and control production performance using ERP/MES systems
*Produce daily production reports and dashboards (adherence to plan, productivity, delays)
*Support daily production and operational review meetings with accurate and timely data
*Identify and escalate production risks, including material shortages, bottlenecks, and capacity constraints
*Coordinate and update daily and weekly production schedules in response to real-time conditions
*Escalate issues to management with clear impact analysis and recommendations
*Work closely with Production, Stores, Procurement, Quality, Maintenance, and Finance teams
*Control and manage Work in Progress (WIP) levels
*Act as the Operations ERP "Super User", ensuring data integrity and governance
*Analyse performance trends and support continuous improvement initiatives to optimise flow and reduce waste
Skills, Experience & Knowledge
*Experience using ERP/MES systems in a manufacturing or production environment
*Previous experience in production control, planning, or scheduling
*Strong data analysis skills with experience building reports and dashboards
*Advanced Excel skills and working knowledge of Power BI and/or SQL
*Understanding of Bills of Materials (BOMs) and routings
*Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills
*Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally
*Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently
*Experience within aerospace or a similarly regulated manufacturing environment
*Highly organised and detail-focused
*Reliable, conscientious, and consistent in delivery
*Confident communicator with a collaborative approach
*Flexible and adaptable with a positive, can-do attitude
*Strong work ethic and commitment to continuous improvement
