Full job descriptionWe have just taken a fabulous vacancy for a Care Manager / Service Manager to join a thriving supported living service in Wokingham!
To lead and deliver high-quality, person-centred support for individuals living in supported accommodation while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards and fostering a positive team culture. You’ll empower people to live independently, manage their own homes, and engage meaningfully in their communities while also guiding and mentoring support staff.
Service Leadership, Management and Operational Duties
• Manage rotas and allocate care staff efficiently.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records using digital systems.
• Respond to emergencies and crisis situations within caseload.
• Oversee day-to-day operations of supported living services.
• Ensure services meet regulatory standards (e.g. CQC, safeguarding, health & safety).
• Develop and implement service improvement plans.
• Manage budgets and resources effectively.
• Complete operational administrative tasks (e.g. processing timesheets and payroll)
Team Leadership & Development
• Lead, mentor & supervise Team Leaders, Senior Support Workers and Support Workers.
• Conduct staff appraisals, supervisions, and performance reviews.
• Promote a culture of respect, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure staff are trained and supported to deliver person-centred care.
Client Support & Engagement
• Ensure support plans are person-centred, regularly reviewed, and adapted to individual needs.
• Promote independence, dignity, and active participation in community life.
• Act as a key liaison with families, professionals, and external agencies.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
• Conduct audits and ensure adherence to internal policies and external regulations.
• Monitor safeguarding practices and respond to incidents appropriately.
• Maintain safe environments and oversee health & safety, fire, medication & Infection control checks.
• Work together with office team to achieve positive Quality Assurance reviews.
Communication & Advocacy
• Advocate for individuals’ rights and ensure their voices are central to decision making.
• Disseminate learning from safeguarding and service reviews to staff.
• Develop approach that promotes the use of all type of communication methods, including gesture, sign language, pictures, objects and writing. Such as Total Communication environment that supports diverse communication needs.
Qualifications & Experience
• Ideally Level 4 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care (or equivalent) or actively working towards it.
• Proven experience managing supported living or residential services.
• Strong leadership, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of CQC standards, safeguarding, and person-centred planning.
• Knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams etc.)
