Full job descriptionAre you a logistics professional who thrives on keeping complex supply chains moving? We are recruiting a Logistics Coordinator on behalf of a well-established manufacturing business located near Chelmsford, Essex.
This is a hands-on, varied role with real ownership; from coordinating UK and international freight across road, sea, and air, to managing third-party logistics providers, driving KPI reporting, and acting as the go-to contact for export procedures and documentation.

Please note: this is a fully office-based role, Monday to Friday. Hybrid working is not available. Due to the location, you will need to be a driver as public transport links are limited.


The Role - Logistics Coordinator
As Logistics Coordinator, you will report into the Supply Chain Supervisor and take day-to-day ownership of transport, export, and warehouse logistics activities. You will work closely with Customer Service, Planning, and Warehousing teams, as well as external freight forwarders and 3PL partners, to ensure shipments are booked, tracked, and executed in line with customer requirements and business targets.


Key Responsibilities of the Logistics Coordinator
*Review sales orders and pre-book inbound and outbound shipments in collaboration with Customer Service and Planning teams
*Coordinate UK and export shipments across road, sea, and air freight, including groupage consignments
*Create detailed loading plans to optimise vehicle and container utilisation
*Update and maintain the daily warehouse loading schedule, communicating changes promptly across the business
*Create inventory picking instructions in line with shipment and warehouse requirements
*Obtain and compare carriage quotes to support the Supply Chain and Commercial teams
*Maintain and update transport and shipping cost spreadsheets
*Act as a key point of contact for customer queries relating to export procedures and transport arrangements
*Ensure correct application of Incoterms and compliance with export documentation requirements
*Support the preparation and accuracy of export paperwork and carriage documentation
*Liaise with freight forwarders and transport providers to maintain service levels, cost control, and operational reliability
*Monitor and manage 3PL performance, implementing countermeasures where required
*Produce and maintain KPI reporting including On Time Delivery monitoring
*Support continuous improvement through data analysis and performance tracking
What We are Looking For
To be considered for the Logistics Coordinator position, you will need to demonstrate:
*Minimum 2 years experience in a logistics or transport role; any industry considered
*A solid understanding of road, sea, and air freight, including groupage
*Knowledge of Incoterms and export paperwork and procedures
*Strong IT skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel
*The ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure with excellent time management
*A customer-focused mindset and strong commercial awareness
*GCSE English and Maths
*A full UK driving licence; essential due to site location
The following are desirable but not essential:
*An industry-recognised qualification in Logistics or Supply Chain (IoSCM / CIPS)
*A Certificate in Export Documentation
