Job Description:
Full job descriptionAre you an experienced finance leader looking for an opportunity to provide stability and strategic support during a key transition period? Do you have the ability to operate at both a strategic and hands-on level? Are you confident working closely with senior leadership and trustees while overseeing day-to-day finance operations?
A not-for-profit organisation based in the Lake District is seeking an Interim Head of Finance to join on an initial 3-4 month contract starting in July. This role will provide essential leadership and continuity during a period of transition, overseeing the finance function while supporting the wider organisation with strategic and operational financial management.
The role can be offered on either a full-time basis or a minimum of 4 days per week and will require on-site presence for 2-3 days each week. Accommodation can be made available if required.
Key responsibilities will include:
*Leading and managing a small finance team, ensuring effective day-to-day operations
*Overseeing budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting processes
*Producing and reviewing management accounts and providing financial insight to senior stakeholders
*Supporting the Board of Trustees and attending finance and risk committee meetings
*Acting as a trusted adviser to the CEO on financial and strategic matters
*Reviewing finance systems, processes and structures, making recommendations for future improvements
*Supporting governance responsibilities, including company secretariat duties
*Providing leadership and continuity through a transitional period
The successful candidate will have:
*Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
*Proven experience operating in a senior finance leadership role
*Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage confidently with trustees and senior leadership
*A strategic mindset combined with a hands-on approach to operational finance
*Experience overseeing management accounting, forecasting and financial controls
*Experience using Sage accounting software would be advantageous
*Previous not-for-profit or charity experience is desirable, but not essential
