The Opportunity
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced and commercially minded Senior Manager to join a well-established and growing accountancy practice South of Cornwall. This role is suited to an ambitious professional looking to take on a key leadership position within a collaborative and forward-thinking firm.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing client relationships, overseeing a varied portfolio, supporting the development of junior staff, and contributing to the continued growth of the practice.
Key Responsibilities
*Managing a diverse portfolio of clients including limited companies, sole traders, and partnerships
*Reviewing statutory accounts, management accounts, and tax returns
*Providing business advisory and strategic support to clients
*Leading and mentoring junior and senior members of the team
*Building and maintaining strong long-term client relationships
*Supporting business development activities and identifying growth opportunities
*Ensuring compliance with accounting and tax regulations
*Liaising with HMRC and other professional bodies where required
*Managing workflow, deadlines, and team performance effectively
*Assisting Partners with operational and strategic initiatives
Candidate Requirements
*ACA / ACCA / CTA qualified (or equivalent)
*Significant experience within accountancy practice
*Strong technical knowledge across accounts and taxation
*Proven experience managing client portfolios
*Excellent leadership and people management skills
*Commercially aware with strong problem-solving ability
*Confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
*Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
*Experience reviewing work and developing junior staff
Desirable Experience
*Business advisory exposure
*Practice development or business development involvement
*Experience working with cloud-based accounting software including Xero and QuickBooks
