Description
Key responsibilities:


*Lead the design, specification and review of electrical and instrumentation systems for new installations and modifications
*Provide technical leadership and troubleshooting support to engineering, maintenance and operations teams
*Ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations (e.g. BS7671, ATEX, DSEAR, IEC)
*Act as the technical authority for E/I systems, maintaining system integrity and driving improvements
*Manage third-party contractors, vendors and consultants across E/I project scopes
*Lead and support safety studies including HAZOP, LOPA and SIL assessments
*Develop and enhance maintenance strategies to support asset reliability and performance
*Produce and review technical documentation including drawings, specifications and reports
*Deliver capital projects from concept through to commissioning
*Mentor and develop technicians, providing guidance and technical oversight
Profile
The successful candidate:


*Degree-qualified in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering (or equivalent)
*Chartered Engineer status (or working towards) desirable
*Strong experience working with E/I systems in a process or industrial environment (e.g. chemicals, energy, manufacturing)
*Deep understanding of UK electrical/instrumentation standards and legislation
*Experience with functional safety and hazardous area design/selection (CompEx advantageous)
*Strong knowledge of industrial control systems, automation and instrumentation networks
*Proven experience across design, maintenance and project delivery
*Confident working cross-functionally with operations, contractors and stakeholders
*Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills
*Experience using relevant engineering tools/software (e.g. AutoCAD, ETAP, PLC/DCS platforms)
