A specialist school in Oxford is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic graduate to join their team immediately as a SEMH Teaching Assistant. This long-term role offers invaluable experience supporting children and teenagers with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a therapeutic and structured learning environment.
As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will support students with a range of additional needs including trauma, OCD, anxiety, low self-esteem, attachment difficulties, emotional dysregulation and behaviour challenges. Many pupils have experienced Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and benefit from a nurturing, specialist setting focused on emotional wellbeing and resilience.
Your responsibilities will include:
*Providing classroom and 1:1 support to students.
*Supporting emotional regulation and behaviour management.
*Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
*Assisting with therapeutic and restorative interventions.
*Helping students access learning and achieve personal goals.
*Working closely with teachers, therapists and pastoral staff.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a graduate looking to build hands-on experience in a mental health and behavioural setting. The school are seeking a graduate who is confident, proactive, with a calm and supportive outlook. Previous experience working with children and/or vulnerable individuals would be beneficial, but not essential.
