Job Description:
Full job descriptionFinance Manager — High Wycombe
Hybrid | Full Time
The Opportunity
This is a genuinely exciting finance role with a difference. Our client is a pioneering, family-run business operating at the cutting edge of the sustainability revolution in a niche sector.
They are looking for a hands-on, commercially minded Finance Manager to take full ownership of the financial function — someone who wants real impact, enjoys variety, and is ready to grow with a business that has serious ambition.
If you are tired of processing numbers in a siloed environment and want to be the person who actually shapes a company’s financial future, this could be the role you’ve been waiting for.
Why This Role Stands Out
*Genuine ownership — take full control of the finance function from day one, reporting directly to the Managing Director
*Real growth path — as the business scales, your role grows with it, with a clear aim to take on a second accounts entity and build your own team
*Varied and dynamic — no two days are the same; you’ll be across everything from cash flow management and payroll to financial strategy and investor research
*Values-led culture — a close-knit, family business where your voice carries weight and your decisions matter
*Sustainability at the core — be part of the green transition in a fast-moving, forward-thinking industry
What You’ll Be Doing
Finance & Reporting
*Oversee all financial transactions, month-end and year-end close processes
*Lead budgeting, forecasting, and rolling financial planning
*Monitor cash flow and ensure the business meets its financial obligations
*Prepare financial reports and KPI dashboards for the Managing Director
*Liaise with external accountants and manage GDPR/ICO compliance
Credit Control & Accounts Payable
*Manage client invoicing, credit notes, and payment reconciliation via Xero
*Chase overdue payments and set credit limits using Experian reports
*Raise purchase orders, approve bills, and manage supplier payments via Monzo
HR & Payroll
*Collate and submit monthly payroll to external accountants
*Manage new starter onboarding, HR documentation, and BrightHR administration
*Support recruitment activity and conduct staff appraisals
About You
*Proven experience in a Finance Manager or senior finance role, ideally within an SME environment
*Confident using Xero & Excel
*A hands-on self-starter who is comfortable working across finance and operational tasks
*Strong communicator who can present financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders
*Highly organised, detail-conscious, and calm under pressure
*An interest in sustainability or the creative industries would be a great fit — though not essential
