Job Description:
Regulatory Affairs Specialist – Maritime, Biogas & Crude (Europe)
This role supports the regulatory agenda and advocacy priorities for Europe across three connected areas: maritime regulation, biogas regulation, and crude oil regulatory developments. It involves close collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders to help deliver bp’s strategy.
The role reports to the ST&S RPT Regulatory Affairs Senior Manager Europe, with a dotted line to the Global Maritime Regulatory Affairs Advisor.
Key Accountabilities
Maritime
* Act as subject matter expert on European maritime regulatory matters, including FuelEU Maritime and the Renewable Energy Directive.
* Support bp businesses in mitigating compliance exposure and identifying commercial opportunities linked to upcoming maritime regulations.
* Represent ST&S in EU country-specific projects requiring regulatory expertise.
Biogas
* Support commercial transactions by identifying regulatory risks and opportunities for the ST&S biogas bench.
* Contribute to the formation of ST&S regulatory strategy for existing and future market entry.
* Interpret regulatory changes and advise commercial benches and management on impacts and mitigations.
Crude Oil
* Work with the EU Refining Regulatory Affairs Manager to strengthen support for ST&S RPT commercial benches, compliance teams, and optimisation teams.
* Analyse external market and regulatory developments in Europe and advise on impacts and mitigations.
* Coordinate with the Brussels C&EA team on regulatory implications related to energy security.
* Provide ad-hoc support to local compliance teams on crude oil stock obligation regulations.
Cross-Area Responsibilities (Maritime, Biogas & Crude)
* Build deep understanding of current and future low-carbon fuel regulatory developments across Europe and the UK.
* Work with subject matter experts across bp to develop and communicate position papers aligned with bp strategy.
* Provide input for analysis, activities, annual reports, and regulatory submissions.
* Support the development of bp positions for public consultations and define advocacy priorities for ST&S RPT and RS&M.
Collaborate with C&EA and business regulatory leads to deploy advocacy plans supporting bp’s commercial activity.&
