Assistant Accountant£35,000 - £40,000 | North Liverpool | Hybrid
A growing, multi-entity SME in the North West is looking to appoint a hands-on Assistant Accountant to join its expanding finance team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys ownership and wants to play a key role in keeping a finance function running smoothly within a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
The RoleYou’ll take responsibility for day-to-day finance operations across multiple entities, ensuring accuracy, control, and a smooth month-end process. This is a varied position offering strong exposure and the chance to contribute to process improvements.
Key responsibilities include:
*Ownership of purchase and sales ledger processes
*Bank postings and reconciliations
*Preparing payment runs
*Maintaining accurate and well-organised ledgers
*Posting journals (accruals, prepayments, payroll)
*Supporting month-end close
*Managing intercompany balances and reconciliations
*Bookkeeping for smaller group entities
*Supporting system and process improvements
About You*Experience in an Accounts Assistant / Finance Assistant / Bookkeeping role
*Comfortable working in an SME or multi-entity environment
*Strong Excel skills and good systems knowledge
*Experience with cloud accounting software (e.g. Xero or Sage) is beneficial
*Highly organised, proactive, and detail-focused
*Comfortable managing routine, high-volume workloads with accuracy
