Based in London, hybrid working & Inside IR35
Length: 3 months
We’re seeking an interim Chief Procurement Officerto lead and transform the procurement function within a complex public sector environment. This role will provide strategic leadership, ensure compliance with procurement regulations, and drive value for money across a significant third-party spend portfolio.
Key Responsibilities of the Chief Procurement Officer:
*Provide strategic leadership of the procurement function, setting vision, direction and priorities
*Lead the delivery of a compliant, efficient and value-driven procurement service
*Oversee high-value, complex procurements across multiple categories (e.g. social care, construction, professional services)
*Ensure full compliance with Public Contracts Regulations and internal governance frameworks
*Drive commercial strategy, cost optimisation and supplier performance management
*Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders to influence commissioning and procurement decisions
*Support organisational transformation, including service redesign and savings programmes
*Manage risk across the supply chain and ensure robust contract management practices
Skills, Experience and Knowledge required of the Chief Procurement Officer:
*MCIPS (or equivalent)
*Relevant degree or equivalent professional experience
*Proven experience operating at Head of / Director / CPO level within a public sector organisation
*Strong knowledge of UK public sector procurement regulations (PCR 2015 and PCR 2023)
