We are seeking a motivated and well-organised Legal Assistant/Paralegal to join our progressive team, focusing on adult social care law. This role is ideal for candidates with some educational law experience, though it’s not mandatory. You will be supporting our lawyers in preparing for advocacy in the Court of Protection, the Special Educational Needs Tribunal, and other tribunals.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Assist in the preparation of court and tribunal documents and manage external lawyers, including counsel.
*Liaise with courts, tribunals, and external parties in litigation, including opposing legal advisers, experts, and witnesses.
*Work closely with internal clients involved in proceedings.
*Provide legal advice and guidance under the supervision of the Legal Services Manager and Senior Solicitor on matters including adult’s safeguarding and education.
*Attend court/tribunal with fee earners and/or counsel as required.
*Involve in the management of Council projects and high-profile complex safeguarding matters.
*Undertake legal research and draft legal documents.
*Provide regular support to the Legal Services Manager and occasional support to the Director of Law and Governance.
*Supervise Legal Apprentices and members of the Legal and Democratic Business Support Team as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Excellent communication and team skills.
*Self-motivated and well-organised.
*Ability to work under supervision and within a team.
*Experience in adult social care law, with education law experience being an advantage.
*Capable of managing multiple tasks and responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
