Full job descriptionWe are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a friendly and supportive school in Blackburn. The successful candidate will work across all year groups, providing high-quality classroom support, delivering interventions, and leading lessons in the teacher’s absence.
This is an exciting opportunity for a confident and motivated HLTA who enjoys variety, thrives on working with pupils of different ages, and is committed to raising standards of learning and achievement.
Start Date: April 13th 2026
Key Responsibilities*Work across EYFS, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2 to support teaching and learning.

*Plan and deliver engaging lessons when required, covering classes in the absence of the teacher.

*Support individual and small groups of pupils to help them achieve learning goals.

*Lead targeted interventions in literacy, numeracy, and other curriculum areas.

*Assist teachers in planning, assessing, and tracking pupil progress.

*Contribute to creating a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.

*Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and senior leaders to uphold school values and policies.

Requirements*Hold a Level 4 HLTA qualification (or equivalent).

*Proven experience working across primary year groups.

*Strong classroom management and communication skills.

*Ability to deliver lessons confidently and maintain high standards of learning.

*A positive, flexible, and proactive attitude.

*Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply).

Desirable*Experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

*First Aid training or other relevant professional development.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
