The Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Family Solicitor to join a growing and supportive legal team based in Gateshead. This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor with Legal Aid experience to take on a varied caseload and make a genuine difference to clients during challenging times.
You will handle a broad range of publicly funded family law matters, working closely with vulnerable clients and providing clear, compassionate legal advice throughout their cases.
Key Responsibilities
*Manage a caseload of Family Law matters under Legal Aid, including:
*Care proceedings
*Child protection matters
*Domestic abuse / injunctions
*Private children disputes (where applicable)

*Conduct your own advocacy where appropriate
*Represent clients at court hearings, meetings, and conferences
*Liaise with CAFCASS, local authorities, and other professionals
*Maintain Legal Aid compliance and accurate file management
*Deliver high standards of client care and professionalism
Requirements
*Qualified Solicitor in with previous experience handling Legal Aid family matters
*Strong knowledge of family law, particularly care proceedings
*Excellent advocacy and communication skills
*Ability to manage a busy caseload independently
*Strong organisational and time management skills
Desirable:
*Children Panel Accreditation (or working towards it)
*Advocacy experience in family courts
