Full job descriptionREED Practice are actively recruiting a Tax & Payroll Assistant to join a small practice based in Bournemouth. This is an established firm, with the Director looking to support the Tax Manager with an additional member of staff. The role includes delivering high-quality tax compliance and payroll services to a diverse client base, as well as assisting with tax return preparation, payroll processing, and ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations.
Tax & Payroll Assistant

Full Time (Flexible start and finish time around 37 hours)
Salary £28,000 - £32,000 per annum
Key Responsibilities
Tax Duties
*Assist in the preparation of personal and business tax returns (Self Assessment, Corporation Tax, etc.)
*Gather and organise client financial information for tax purposes
*Process weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payrolls for multiple clients
*Calculate wages, overtime, bonuses, statutory payments (SSP, SMP, etc.)
*Administer PAYE, National Insurance, and other deductions
*Ensure timely submission of RTI (Real Time Information) to HMRC
General Practice Support
*Assist with client onboarding and data entry
*Maintain organised and accurate client files
*Support senior staff with administrative and compliance tasks
*Communicate professionally with clients, HMRC, and third parties
*Ensure adherence to internal processes and confidentiality standards
Essential
*Previous experience in an accountancy practice or payroll/tax role
*Knowledge of UK tax and payroll regulations
*Strong numerical and analytical skills
*High attention to detail and accuracy
*Good organisational and time management skills
*Proficiency in accounting and payroll software (e.g., Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, BrightPay)
*Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
