Job Description:
Full job descriptionWe are seeking a proactive and skilled Maintenance Engineer to join their Engineering team. You will play a key role in ensuring production equipment and site facilities operate safely, efficiently, and reliably. This is a hands-on role where you will support both planned and reactive maintenance within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
*Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across a wide range of food production machinery
*Respond quickly and effectively to breakdowns to minimise downtime and disruption
*Diagnose faults, identify root causes, and complete repairs or component replacements
*Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and in line with health, safety, and food safety standards
*Maintain a clean, safe working environment at all times
*Support statutory and regulatory inspections and ensure equipment compliance
*Work closely with production teams to optimise machinery performance and reliability
*Support correct machine setup and maintenance of production tools (e.g., blades/knives)
*Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and efficiency projects
*Assist with installation, commissioning, and upgrading of new equipment
*Support wider site maintenance requirements beyond production equipment
*Coordinate with internal teams and external contractors to ensure smooth delivery of maintenance activities
*Maintain accurate maintenance records, including breakdowns, repairs, and servicing
*Manage and update spare parts and inventory records
Skills & Experience
*Previous experience in a Maintenance Engineer role (ideally within FMCG or food manufacturing)
*Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
*Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills
*Strong problem-solving ability with a proactive, hands-on approach
*Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable
*Engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND or equivalent), though strong practical experience will be considered
*Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams
*Experience supporting contractors or external engineers on site
Hours
*4 on 4 off pattern, 12 hour shifts from 6am - 6pm
