We are currently recruiting for an experienced CNC Machinist to join a well-established precision engineering/manufacturing company. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting and operating CNC machines to produce high-quality components in line with engineering drawings and production requirements.
This is a hands-on machining role within a fast-paced environment where accuracy, efficiency, and quality are key.
Key Responsibilities
*Set and operate CNC milling and/or turning machines (Fanuc / Siemens / Heidenhain controls)
*Load and edit existing CNC programs where required
*Manufacture components to tight tolerances and quality standards
*Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
*Select correct tooling, fixtures, and materials for production runs
*Conduct in-process inspection using measuring equipment (micrometers, verniers, gauges, etc.)
*Carry out machine adjustments to maintain quality and reduce scrap
*Ensure machines are running efficiently and downtime is minimised
*Maintain a clean and safe working environment in line with HSE standards
*Work closely with programmers, setters, and production teams
Skills & Experience Required
*Previous experience as a CNC Machinist / CNC Operator / CNC Setter
*Strong ability to set and operate CNC milling and/or turning machines
*Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
*Good understanding of machining principles and tooling
*Experience working to tight tolerances
*Basic programming/editing experience is an advantage but not essential
*Background in engineering, manufacturing, or precision machining preferred
Desirable
*Experience with multi-axis CNC machines
*Familiarity with Fanuc, Mazak, or Siemens controls
*Experience in aerospace, automotive, or precision engineering environments
*Apprenticeship or engineering qualification (NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent)
