Full job descriptionWe are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teacher to join a supportive school in Thurrock. The successful candidate will support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment that enables every student to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities*Plan and deliver differentiated lessons tailored to individual student needs.
*Support pupils with SEND including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language difficulties, and moderate learning difficulties.
*Develop and implement strategies in line with EHCP targets and individual learning plans.
*Monitor, assess, and record student progress, providing regular feedback to parents and senior staff.
*Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment.
*Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs, therapists, and external agencies.
*Manage classroom behaviour effectively using positive behaviour support strategies.
*Adapt teaching methods and resources to suit different learning styles and abilities.
*Promote student independence, confidence, and social development.
*Ensure safeguarding and wellbeing policies are followed at all times.
Requirements*Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
*Experience working with children or young people with SEND.
*Strong understanding of EHCPs and differentiated teaching strategies.
*Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
*Patient, empathetic, and passionate about supporting students with additional needs.
*Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
Desirable Skills*Experience within SEN schools, resource provisions, or mainstream inclusion settings.
*Training in Team Teach, Makaton, PECS, or trauma-informed practice.
*Knowledge of autism-friendly and sensory learning approaches.
