An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and commercially minded finance professional to join a well-established and values-led organisation as Head of Finance.
This is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the day-to-day finance operations, managing a small finance team, and supporting strategic financial planning across the organisation and its associated entities.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, compliance, and internal controls, while also contributing to wider strategic and operational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
*Lead and develop the finance function, ensuring efficient and effective financial operations
*Prepare monthly management accounts, forecasts, and financial analysis
*Support strategic planning through financial modelling and reporting
*Manage budgeting and long-term financial planning processes
*Oversee payroll, pensions, accounts payable/receivable, and cash flow management
*Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and statutory requirements
*Coordinate external audits and maintain robust internal controls
*Support capital project evaluation and financial monitoring
*Partner with senior stakeholders to drive financial performance and operational efficiency
*Mentor and develop members of the finance team
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented finance leader who combines strong technical expertise with excellent communication and leadership skills.
You will ideally have:
*ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification (or equivalent)
*Significant experience in financial and management accounting
*Experience leading finance teams and improving financial processes
*Strong budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling capability
*Excellent Excel and analytical skills
*A collaborative and professional approach with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
*Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
Experience within the education or charity sector would be advantageous but is not essential.
