Full job descriptionNXTGEN are pleased to be working exclusively with my client in their search for a highly capable Finance Controller to take on a number one finance role within a thriving, family-run business. This is a pivotal Finance Controller position, reporting directly into the business owner, offering full ownership of the finance function and the opportunity to truly influence decision-making at board level. The successful Finance Controller will lead a team of 7 and play a key role in supporting the next stage of the company’s continued growth journey.
The business has experienced significant expansion in recent years and is now looking for a hands-on, commercially astute Finance Controller who can come in and hit the ground running. Key Responsibilities:*Full ownership of the day-to-day finance function and overall financial reporting
*Production of monthly management accounts, budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis
*Reporting directly into the business owner with clear commercial insight and recommendations
*Leading, developing, and managing a team of 7 within the finance department
*Maintaining and improving financial controls, processes, and systems
*Cash flow management and financial planning support for business growth
*Liaising with external stakeholders including auditors, banks, and advisors
*Supporting strategic decision-making through meaningful financial analysis
*Driving continuous improvement across the finance function
The Ideal Candidate:The ideal candidate will be a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with proven experience in a similar Finance Controller or Financial Controller role within a growing, owner-managed or family-run business. They will be confident managing and developing a finance team, ideally have experience with Sage 200 or a comparable finance system, and be comfortable operating in a hands-on, fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills are essential, along with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and provide clear, commercial insight to support business decision-making. Above all, the successful individual will be proactive, adaptable, and excited by the opportunity to take ownership of a full finance function within a business where culture and people genuinely come first.
