We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pastoral Lead to join a specialist independent education setting in Mansfield. This provision supports young people aged 7–19 with SEND, SEMH needs, and barriers to learning, many of whom have struggled to thrive in mainstream education.
This is a pivotal role where you will lead on student wellbeing, helping to create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where every learner is supported to re-engage, achieve, and realise their potential.

About the Provision
This setting is part of a well-established education provider specialising in alternative provision and bespoke learning pathways. Since 2008, the organisation has focused on supporting young people who are "hard to place" or disengaged from traditional education.
*Learners benefit from personalised, flexible education programmes, often combining academic and vocational pathways
*The curriculum ranges from Entry Level to GCSE and A-Level qualifications, alongside vocational courses
*A strong emphasis is placed on relationships, engagement, and individualised support to help students overcome barriers to learning
*The setting promotes values of trust, innovation, and achievement, with a collaborative and supportive staff culture

Key Responsibilities
*Provide daily pastoral care and emotional wellbeing support
*Deliver 1:1 interventions, mentoring, and tutorials
*Support behaviour, attendance, and safeguarding processes
*Lead on conflict resolution, mediation, and restorative approaches
*Facilitate student voice initiatives and enrichment activities
*Support PSHE and whole-school wellbeing programmes
*Work closely with parents, carers, and external agencies
*Attend multi-agency and safeguarding meetings
*Monitor, record, and analyse pastoral data to inform interventions
*Support leadership with line management and cover where required

About You
You’ll be a calm, resilient, and reflective practitioner who thrives in a relationship-driven environment.
Essential:
*Level 3 qualification (or above) in a relevant field
*GCSE English & Maths (or equivalent)
*Strong experience in a pastoral or wellbeing role
*Experience supporting young people with SEND, ASC, or mental health needs
*Excellent safeguarding knowledge
*Proven ability to de-escalate challenging behaviour
Desirable:
*Experience in alternative provision, specialist education, or similar settings

Why Apply?
*Be part of a provision that rethinks engagement and approaches to learning
*Make a genuine impact on young people who need it most
*Work within a highly supportive, multi-disciplinary team
*Access ongoing training and development opportunities
*Join a provider that places relationships and individual progress at its core
