Job Type: Full time, permanent
Hours: 40 hours per week, shift working pattern 5 days over 7.
Jade Recruitment is proud to be recruiting on behalf of a well-established and respected hotel in the Reigate area for an experienced Sous Chef to join their team on a permanent full-time basis.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy, high-quality hotel with approximately 50 bedrooms, catering to weddings, events, and conferences. The successful candidate will play a key leadership role within the kitchen, supporting the Head Chef and helping drive both standards and profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
*Support the Head Chef in the overall management of the kitchen operation, including accountability for food GP and P&L performance
*Achieve gross profit targets through effective stock control, portion management, costing, and minimising waste
*Lead and inspire the kitchen team in the absence of the Head Chef, ensuring consistently high standards of food preparation and presentation
*Maintain a safe, clean, and efficient kitchen environment in line with food hygiene regulations
*Liaise with approved suppliers to ensure quality ingredients are sourced at competitive prices
*Contribute to menu development, including creating dishes, writing specifications, and implementing new ideas
*Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and training of new kitchen team members
*Deliver training sessions, cook-offs, and briefing materials for both kitchen and front-of-house teams
*Ensure all dishes meet the venue’s high standards for quality and presentation
About You:
*Proven experience as a Sous Chef within a high-quality hotel environment
*Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team
*Commercially aware with a good understanding of kitchen financials
*Passionate about food, creativity, and delivering exceptional guest experiences
*Organised, proactive, and able to perform well under pressure
