Green Barks Search is proud to be exclusively partnering with a leading supplier of ready-mix and volumetric concrete across Yorkshire and the Northeast. As part of its continued growth and investment, the business is looking to appoint a Concrete Scheduler and Planner to join the team.
About the Role:
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in logistics, construction, or concrete operations to join a thriving independent business. This 360° role requires full ownership of the concrete delivery process — from initial customer enquiry, pricing, and booking, through to delivery planning, driver coordination, and job close-out.
You’ll work closely with and be mentored by the Concrete Manager, learning how to lead, plan and optimise their fleet of Drum Mixers. You’ll also gain direct exposure to the commercial, operational, and customer-facing aspects of the business.
This role suits someone with a strong sense of ownership, a proactive mindset, and the natural personality to convert enquiries into orders.
Key Responsibilities
*Ready Mix Wagon Fleet & Driver Management: Oversee the scheduling and efficient management of the drum fleet and their drivers to maximise delivery efficiency, customer satisfaction, and revenue.
*Planning & Shipping: Coordinate and dispatch Ready Mix wagons to deliver concrete efficiently, ensuring customer requirements and operational targets are consistently met through effective communication with batchers, drivers, customers, and subcontractors.
*Customer Advice & Sales: Provide accurate quotations to customers and offer expert advice regarding the supply of concrete, ensuring high levels of satisfaction.
*Communication & Coordination: Act as the central point of contact between drivers, customers, and subcontractors, ensuring smooth communication and troubleshooting of any on-site or delivery issues.
*Production & Route Planning: Organise production schedules and route planning to ensure optimal use of resources and timely delivery to customers.
*Material Ordering: Manage material orders and inventory for ready mix vehicles to ensure smooth operations.
*Health & Safety: Ensure the health and safety of yourself, co-workers, and all stakeholders by following strict safety protocols and promoting a culture of safety.
*Out-of-Hours Availability: Be contactable outside of regular working hours for emergency issues or urgent requests related to deliveries.
As You Progress, You’ll Gain Experience In:
*Staff and fleet management.
*Commercial planning and performance tracking.
*Health and safety leadership.
*Customer relationship management.
The Ideal Candidate:
*Experience in concrete operations.
*Experience in logistics and construction.
*Strong communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
*Eagerness to learn and develop into a leadership role.
*Proficient in Microsoft Office and general scheduling/dispatch tools.
*HGV knowledge or qualifications (desirable).
*A self-starter who works well both independently and in a team.
Benefits:
*Competitive salary: £40,000 - £50,000 per annum.
*3% Company Pension Scheme.
*25 days holiday plus statutory holidays, with options to buy or sell leave.
*Company benefits
*Option to buy and sell holiday
*Enhanced private healthcare with dental and optical cover
*Annual loyalty bonus
