Accountancy Practice Accounts and Outsourcing Semi-Senior
  • England,South East,Kent,Tunbridge Wells
  • Full Time, Permanent
  • £30,000 - £40,000 per annum
Job Description:
Full job descriptionAn excellent opportunity has arisen with a well-established, independent firm of accountants based in Tunbridge Wells, who are looking to appoint an experienced Semi-Senior Accountant to join their close-knit team.

This is not a "production-line" accountancy role within a faceless corporate practice. My client is a genuinely personable and highly regarded independent firm that prides itself on building long-standing relationships with both clients and staff alike. The environment is collaborative, relaxed, and professional — the kind of place where people still know each other’s names, clients are spoken to like humans, and good work is genuinely appreciated.

They are seeking someone technically capable, commercially aware, and confident communicating directly with clients. The successful candidate will enjoy variety in their role and take ownership of a broad portfolio of SME clients across multiple sectors.

The Role

The position will involve a mixture of:
*Preparation of statutory accounts for limited companies, sole traders, and partnerships
*Overseeing bookkeeping activities
*Preparation and review of VAT returns
*CIS returns and associated compliance
*Payroll processing and related duties
*Liaising directly with clients on day-to-day queries
*Building strong, trusted working relationships with clients
*Supporting junior staff where appropriate

The Ideal Candidate

My client is looking for someone who is:
*Experienced within a small or independent accountancy practice
*Comfortable preparing statutory accounts with minimal supervision
*Knowledgeable across bookkeeping, VAT, CIS, and payroll
*Personable, articulate, and confident speaking with clients
*Organised with strong attention to detail
*Looking for a long-term opportunity within a friendly and supportive firm
*AAT qualified or ACA/ACCA part-qualified/qualified would be advantageous, though experience is equally valued

Why Join?
*Friendly, down-to-earth independent practice
*Broad and varied client exposure
*Genuine client interaction and relationship-building
*Supportive leadership team
*Relaxed, professional culture without corporate politics
*Opportunity to become a key member of a growing practice

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys the personal side of practice accountancy just as much as the technical work — someone who values relationships, autonomy, and being part of a firm where their contribution genuinely matters.
