Full job descriptionAn excellent opportunity has arisen with a well-established, independent firm of accountants based in Tunbridge Wells, who are looking to appoint an experienced Semi-Senior Accountant to join their close-knit team.

This is not a "production-line" accountancy role within a faceless corporate practice. They are seeking someone technically capable, commercially aware, and confident communicating directly with clients. The successful candidate will enjoy variety in their role and take ownership of a broad portfolio of SME clients across multiple sectors.

The Role

The position will involve a mixture of:
*Preparation of statutory accounts for limited companies, sole traders, and partnerships
*Overseeing bookkeeping activities
*Preparation and review of VAT returns
*CIS returns and associated compliance
*Payroll processing and related duties
*Liaising directly with clients on day-to-day queries
*Building strong, trusted working relationships with clients
*Supporting junior staff where appropriate

The Ideal Candidate

My client is looking for someone who is:
*Experienced within a small or independent accountancy practice
*Comfortable preparing statutory accounts with minimal supervision
*Knowledgeable across bookkeeping, VAT, CIS, and payroll
*Personable, articulate, and confident speaking with clients
*Organised with strong attention to detail
*Looking for a long-term opportunity within a friendly and supportive firm
*AAT qualified or ACA/ACCA part-qualified/qualified would be advantageous, though experience is equally valued
