Job Description:
Full job descriptionWe are seeking a dedicated and proactive Learning Support Assistant to join the SEN Unit within a welcoming mainstream secondary school in Rochdale.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young people with a wide range of additional needs and helping them thrive both academically and emotionally within a supportive educational environment.
The ideal candidate will:
*Have strong experience working with students with SEND needs
*Be confident supporting pupils within a secondary school setting
*Demonstrate a proactive approach and actively circulate the classroom to engage and support learners
*Have knowledge or experience of Autism Communication Strategies (ACS)
*Understand and apply trauma-informed practice effectively
*Be comfortable working with a broad range of SEND needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, communication needs, and learning difficulties
*Build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents
*Remain calm, patient, and adaptable in challenging situations
Key responsibilities include:
*Supporting students within the SEN Unit and mainstream lessons
*Encouraging engagement, independence, and positive behaviour
*Working closely with teaching staff and the SEND department
*Providing tailored support in line with EHCPs and individual student needs
*Helping to create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
