Rate: £1,400 per assessment
Contract: Ongoing Locum Assignment

About the RoleBrightstone Education Partners is currently supporting a Local Authority in Herefordshire to recruit experienced Locum Educational Psychologists to support with the completion of Education, Health and Care Needs Assessments (EHCNAs).
This is a highly flexible locum opportunity, ideal for Educational Psychologists seeking autonomous working arrangements alongside a manageable caseload and fully remote report writing flexibility.
The role will focus specifically on completing EP Advice for EHC Needs Assessments for children and young people aged 0–25 across a variety of educational settings and home environments throughout Herefordshire.
Working Structure*Flexible locum assignment
*Commissioned on a per-assessment basis
*Approximately 2 working days allocated per EHCNA report
*Expected volume currently around 4–8 cases per month, with likely increase from the next academic year
*Fully remote/agile working for report writing
*Face-to-face visits required for assessments
Educational Psychologists will be expected to visit schools, settings, and homes depending on the individual needs and circumstances of the child or young person.
Key Responsibilities*Complete high-quality Educational Psychology Advice for EHC Needs Assessments
*Conduct face-to-face assessments within schools, educational settings, and home environments where required
*Produce clear, analytical, and evidence-based reports within agreed timescales
*Work collaboratively with families, schools, SEN professionals, and multi-agency partners
*Ensure all advice complies with SEND legislation and statutory guidance
*Maintain professional standards and accurate documentation throughout the assessment process
Candidate RequirementsEssential*HCPC Registered Educational Psychologist
*Minimum 2 years post-qualification experience working within an Educational Psychology Service
*Experience completing statutory EHCNA Educational Psychology Advice
*Strong understanding of SEND legislation and statutory assessment processes
*Excellent written communication and report-writing skills
*Ability to work autonomously and manage deadlines effectively
*Willingness to travel across Herefordshire for assessments where required
Desirable*Previous Local Authority locum experience
*Experience working across a wide age range (0–25 years)
*Strong multi-agency working experience
