Sybase DBA - Contract (Inside IR35) - 6 Months


My client a leading global bank are looking for an experienced Sybase DBA to join their team. This role supports mission-critical environments and requires strong expertise in Sybase ASE and Replication Server within fast-paced enterprise settings.
Key Responsibilities:
*Administer, configure, and maintain Sybase ASE and Replication Server environments
*Perform upgrades, patching, migrations, and platform transitions (RHEL7/8 RHEL9)
*Monitor and optimise database performance, resolving bottlenecks, deadlocks, and query issues
*Manage backup, recovery, and high-availability/DR solutions
*Provide L2/L3 production support and assist development teams
*Automate routine tasks and maintain robust documentation and compliance standards
*Participate in on-call support rotation
Required Skills:
*5+ years’ Sybase DBA experience (ASE & Replication Server)
*Strong SQL tuning and performance optimisation expertise
*Experience supporting 24/7 production environments
*Solid Unix/Linux and scripting skills
*Strong troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Desirable:
*Cloud exposure (Azure or AWS)
*Automation tools (Python, Ansible)
*Experience in large financial services environments
