This is a fantastic opportunity for a Graduate Teaching Assistant to join a specialist secondary SEN setting supporting students aged 11–19 with a range of needs, including:
*Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
*Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs
*Moderate to complex learning difficulties
*Behavioural and communication challenges
The school provides a structured, nurturing environment where staff work closely with students to build confidence, resilience, and independence.
Your Role as a Graduate Teaching Assistant
As a Graduate TA / Learning Support Assistant, you will:
*Support students 1:1 and in small groups to access learning
*Assist teachers in delivering engaging, differentiated lessons
*Help implement behaviour management and emotional support strategies
*Encourage students’ social development and independence
*Build strong, positive relationships with pupils and staff
*Support with academic progress, communication skills, and wellbeing
*Gain exposure to EHCPs, SEN strategies, and specialist interventions
Requirements – What We’re Looking For
We are keen to hear from graduates with a passion for education and supporting young people:
*A recent degree (Psychology, Education, Criminology, Health & Social Care or similar preferred)
*A genuine interest in SEN, SEMH, or mental health support
*Strong communication and interpersonal skills
*A patient, empathetic and resilient attitude
*The ability to build rapport and motivate students
*Experience working with young people (e.g., tutoring, coaching, care work) – desirable but not essential
