Salary: M1 – M6
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Hours: 40 per week
Location: Nottingham (Alternative Provision Setting)
About the Role
Are you a teacher who believes every young person deserves to feel seen, valued and capable of success?
Do you thrive in environments where relationships are just as important as the curriculum?
We are seeking a passionate, resilient and creative SEN Teacher to join a dynamic alternative provision in Nottingham. This role offers the opportunity to work with pupils who may have experienced challenges in mainstream education and require a more personalised, supportive approach.
You’ll deliver high-quality teaching across a broad and flexible curriculum, helping learners re-engage with education and build confidence in their abilities.
What Teaching Looks Like Here
*Small class sizes (typically 3–6 pupils), allowing meaningful relationship-building
*Opportunities for 1:1 teaching, particularly to support transitions into group learning
*Teaching Assistant support, including targeted 1:1 interventions
*A strong emphasis on adaptive, relational teaching approaches
*A holistic curriculum combining academic, personal and life skills
*Manageable planning and marking, with scope for creativity and innovation
Key Responsibilities
*Set ambitious, personalised targets and monitor progress through baseline assessments
*Deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that support both academic and personal development
*Use relational and restorative approaches to behaviour and engagement
*Create a safe, inclusive and purposeful learning environment
*Work collaboratively with specialist staff, families and external agencies
*Support students with reintegration or progression pathways
*Contribute to curriculum development and wider team initiatives
*Maintain high standards of safeguarding practice at all times
What We’re Looking For
*Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE or equivalent
*Ability to teach a subject specialism (Maths at KS3/KS4 or Functional Skills is advantageous)
*A reflective practitioner committed to continuous professional development
*A full UK driving licence (due to the nature of the role)
*Confidence using relational and restorative strategies
*Experience in SEN, alternative provision or specialist settings is desirable but not essential
Most importantly, you will have the right mindset — empathetic, adaptable and committed to making a genuine impact.
Why This Role Stands Out
*Make a meaningful difference to young people who need additional support
*Work in a setting where relationships are prioritised over rigid routines
*Deliver creative, flexible teaching tailored to individual needs
*Benefit from small classes and high levels of support
*Be part of a team that values collaboration, wellbeing and innovation
