Job Description:
Full job descriptionOur Client is seeking for an Employment Solicitor to join their reputable and successful firm in Birmingham.
You will manage your own caseload including instructions from Claimants and Respondents. You will act for Claimant and Respondent’s in continuous and non-contentious matters.
Responsibilities
• Understanding and advising on all features of the employment contract;
• Producing employment contracts which will include the employment handbook if necessary and the main terms and conditions of employment;
• Representing clients at Employment Tribunals and negotiating and creating settlement agreements;
• Logging all advice given on case management through reports
• Supporting clients in respect of attending grievance and disciplinary hearings;
• Creating documents of support relating to employment law and employee relations, including memos and template letters;
• Visiting client companies and dealing with specific issues;
• Devising and overseeing training sessions for clients on employment law;
• Generating new business by creating and delivering information update sessions; and
• Networking and marketing to support the growth of employment law in the business
Commercial Awareness
• Identifies business opportunities and new ways of delivering services for the firm and shares those with colleagues.
• Identifies, assesses and manages case and financial risk in accordance with the firms’ policies.
• Manages billing/costs administration – money on account, unpaid bills, minimizing WIP, cash collection in a timely manner etc.
• Establishes and maintains strong relationships with clients and organizations.
• Is reliable in delivery of services to clients.
• Understands the need for client confidentiality and is conscious of it at all times, both inside and outside of the office.
Experience and education
• 2+ years’ PQE
• Strong knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook;
• Knowledge and use of time recording systems;
• Experience of representing clients in all aspects of Employment Law.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
