Job Title: Operational Improvement Lead
Location: South West England / Occasional Travel
Contract Type: 6 months with scope to extend


Job Purpose
The Operational Improvement Lead will be responsible for leading and delivering high-impact operational improvement initiatives across Field Operations within the Electricity Distribution business. The role will focus on driving measurable operational performance improvements, increasing efficiency, reducing costs, and embedding sustainable ways of working.
Working closely with operational leaders and frontline teams, the postholder will identify improvement opportunities, design practical solutions, and ensure successful implementation and adoption across the business.


Key Responsibilities
*Lead the end-to-end delivery of operational improvement initiatives across Field Operations.
*Identify opportunities to improve operational performance, productivity, service delivery, and cost efficiency.
*Design and implement process improvements using recognised continuous improvement methodologies including Lean, Six Sigma, Agile, or equivalent approaches.
*Facilitate workshops, root cause analysis sessions, and process mapping activities.
*Develop and manage pilot programmes, ensuring successful transition into Business-as-Usual (BAU) operations.
*Establish clear performance metrics and track delivery of measurable operational and financial benefits.
*Produce regular progress updates, reporting, and insight for senior stakeholders.
*Engage and influence stakeholders at all levels to drive adoption and sustain change.
*Support operational teams through change implementation, ensuring minimal disruption to service delivery.
*Promote a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence across the organisation.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Essential
*Proven experience delivering operational improvement programmes within complex operational environments.
*Strong track record of delivering measurable business improvements and efficiencies.
*Experience applying Lean, Six Sigma, Agile, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
*Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
*Strong project delivery and change implementation capability.
*Ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and deliver to deadlines.
*Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
*Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
Desirable
*Experience within utilities, electricity distribution, infrastructure, engineering, or field operations environments.
*Lean Six Sigma qualification (Green Belt, Black Belt, or equivalent).
*Experience working within regulated operational environments.
*Knowledge of operational performance management and KPI frameworks.
