An established and growing accountancy firm is seeking an Assistant Tax Manager or Tax Manager to join its expanding private client tax team in Ely. This is an excellent opportunity for a tax professional with experience across personal tax compliance and advisory work, particularly involving trusts and private clients, to develop their career within a supportive and collaborative environment. The role offers exposure to a varied portfolio including high-net-worth individuals, non-residents and trustees, alongside opportunities to contribute to advisory projects and client relationship management.
Role Responsibilities
*Prepare and review Self Assessment tax returns, including capital gains computations and property income schedules.
*Manage personal tax compliance deadlines and ensure timely submissions and payments.
*Support and deliver advisory work relating to Capital Gains Tax, Inheritance Tax and trusts.
*Assist with trust compliance, trust registration matters and associated IHT considerations.
*Carry out Statutory Residence Test reviews and non-resident tax return work.
*Manage and develop a portfolio of private clients and maintain strong client relationships.
*Liaise directly with clients, business owners and internal teams regarding tax matters.
*Identify opportunities to provide additional services and support business development initiatives.
*Provide technical guidance and support to junior and non-tax staff.
*Review junior team members’ work and assist with coaching, mentoring and development.
*Assist with ad-hoc advisory assignments and tax planning projects.
*Attend training courses and ensure ongoing CPD requirements are met.
Personal Requirements
*ATT qualified, CTA qualified/studying, or qualified by experience.
*Previous experience in personal tax compliance and advisory work.
*Trust experience is highly desirable.
*Strong understanding of Capital Gains Tax, Inheritance Tax and private client tax matters.
*Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax matters clearly.
*Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
*Ability to manage workloads effectively and meet deadlines under pressure.
*Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
*Experience managing client relationships and delivering high levels of service.
