A respected and growing UK advisory and accountancy group is seeking a Private Client Tax Assistant Manager to join its Guildford office. This is a key, client-facing role where you’ll manage your own portfolio, oversee compliance and ad-hoc advisory work, and mentor junior colleagues — all within a supportive, collaborative environment that values clear communication and practical, people-centred advice.

The role
You will actively manage the delivery of private client services across a varied portfolio, combining routine compliance with one-off advisory assignments. You’ll act as the primary point of contact for clients, support meetings, and translate technical matters into clear, actionable guidance for non-experts.
Key responsibilities include:
*Managing a mixed private client portfolio spanning earned and investment income
*Acting as primary client contact and building long-term relationships
*Mentoring junior team members and reviewing their work
*Working with partnerships and high-net-worth individuals
*Advising on a wide range of capital gains tax issues
*Delivering technical advisory work across the portfolio
*Handling one-off advisory and compliance assignments
*Assisting at client meetings and preparing clear follow-ups
*Proposing and raising fees; monitoring WIP and workflow
About you
You’re a technically strong private client tax professional with a proactive, commercial mindset and excellent communication skills.
We’re looking for someone with:
*ATT and/or CTA qualification
*Solid experience across UK personal/private client taxation
*Strong track record in Self-Assessment, computations, report writing and ad-hoc advisory work
*Experience with incorporations, EIS/VCT/SEIS, IHT planning and trusts
*Good working knowledge of international tax principles, residence/domicile and double tax relief
*Experience handling HMRC enquiries, settlements and penalties
*Proven ability to advise HNWIs, non-doms, non-residents, OMBs and property owners
*Commercial acumen: agreeing fees, spotting opportunities, contributing to BD
*Strong delivery, people management and communication skills; able to manage multiple matters
