Job Description:
Full job descriptionAt Carter Care Solutions Ltd, we believe children and young people deserve consistency, compassion and adults who genuinely care. We provide high-quality relief support workers to children’s residential homes across Northamptonshire, matching staff to local homes so young people are supported by familiar support workers and so you can build meaningful relationships without unnecessary travel.
This is a flexible agency role supporting young people aged 10–18 who have experienced trauma, adversity and challenging circumstances. If you are calm, reliable and passionate about making a difference, we would love to hear from you.
What we offer
• £16–£18 per hour (dependent on shift)
• Flexible shifts — long days, early/late shifts, waking nights
• Local home matching to reduce travel and support consistency
• Bonus scheme for hours worked
• Work that fits around your availability
• Ongoing training, including 1-1 debriefing sessions when required
• DBS arranged if you are not on the update service
• Supportive agency team with over 25 years social care experience
• Opportunities to gain experience across multiple Ofsted-registered homes
What you’ll be doing
• Supporting young people with daily routines, emotional regulation and positive behaviour
• Building safe, trusting relationships using trauma-informed practice
• Encouraging independence, education, hobbies and social development
• Supporting with meals, activities, appointments and household tasks
• Following individual care plans and behaviour support strategies
• Keeping accurate records of incidents, observations and progress
• Working collaboratively with home staff, managers and external professionals
• Maintaining high safeguarding standards at all times
What we’re looking for
• 21+ years old (legal requirement for childrens residential care)
• 3+ months experience supporting children or vulnerable people in the UK
• Calm, patient and emotionally resilient
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Understanding of trauma, attachment and behaviour support (or willingness to learn)
• Driving licence preferred but not essential
• Willing to complete mandatory training
• Reliable, professional and committed to safeguarding
Additional information
• This is a relief/agency role, not a permanent position in one home
• You must be eligible to work in the UK (we do not offer sponsorship)
• If your DBS is not on the update service, you must be willing to complete a new one
