Job Description:
Full job descriptionCorporate Tax Senior
Location: Kent, with office options in Chatham or Canterbury
Working pattern: Hybrid, 3 days in the office / 2 days from home
Employment type: Permanent, full time
You’re good at corporate tax compliance. Now you want the next bit.
Not a huge leap into the unknown. Not a role where you’re suddenly expected to be an advisory expert overnight.
Just a sensible next step.
More ownership. More client contact. Better exposure to complex groups. Some advisory work alongside Managers and Partners. CTA study support if you want to keep going. And a clear route towards Assistant Manager over time.
That’s the shape of this Corporate Tax Senior role.
You’ll be joining a Kent-based Corporate Tax team within a long-established accountancy and advisory firm, with two office options in Kent. The team has around 25 Corporate Tax professionals across multiple offices and sits within a wider tax service line of nearly 100 people, so you’ll have proper support around you without being buried in a huge department.
What makes this better than another compliance role?
The core of the role is corporate tax compliance, so yes, you’ll be preparing and delivering corporation tax work across a varied client portfolio.
But the difference is what sits around it.
You’ll take ownership of your own portfolio of work, manage deadlines, act as a key contact for clients and internal teams, and support Managers and Partners on advisory projects.
That means drafting advice, joining client calls, spotting opportunities for advisory work and getting closer to the more complex technical and commercial questions that help you grow.
The firm also offers continuous development, mapped progression routes and internal and external training, which is particularly useful here because CTA study support is available for this role.
The work
You’ll be preparing high-quality corporate tax compliance work, making sure assignments are accurate, on time, within budget and technically sound.
You’ll also manage your own workload properly, planning assignments, keeping priorities under control and escalating more complex or uncertain matters at the right time.
Client contact is part of the job too. You’ll deal with clients, HMRC and internal stakeholders on routine matters, drafting clear communications and responding to queries professionally.
And as your confidence grows, you’ll get involved in the advisory side — helping draft advice, joining calls and supporting senior colleagues on more complex work.
What you’ll be doing day to day
*Preparing corporate tax compliance work across a varied portfolio
*Managing your own assignments, deadlines and client work
*Making sure work is accurate, on time, within budget and technically strong
*Acting as a key contact for clients, internal teams and HMRC on routine matters
*Drafting clear client communications
*Spotting opportunities for advisory work
*Supporting Managers and Partners on advisory projects
*Drafting advice and joining client calls where appropriate
*Helping resolve more complex technical and commercial issues
*Supporting workflow management and process improvement
*Supervising and supporting Corporate Tax Semi Seniors and Assistants
Who this will suit
You’ll probably be ATT qualified and already working in corporate tax compliance within practice.
You might feel ready for more responsibility, but not necessarily ready to jump straight into a heavy advisory role. That’s fine. This role gives you the platform to build towards it.
You’ll need to be organised, proactive and comfortable managing competing deadlines. You should also enjoy taking ownership rather than waiting to be chased.
If you’ve had exposure to complex groups, that will help. If you’ve supervised junior team members before, even better — but that part is beneficial rather than essential.
The key thing is that you want to keep developing.
What would make you a strong fit
*ATT qualification
*Strong corporate tax compliance experience
*Exposure to complex groups
*Good organisation and deadline management skills
*Confidence communicating with clients and internal stakeholders
*A proactive approach and sense of ownership
*Interest in advisory work
*Experience supporting or supervising junior colleagues, useful but not essential
*Appetite to continue studying, with CTA support available
What’s in it for you?
You’ll get hybrid working, 25.5 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, holiday buying, contributory pension, life assurance, health cash plan, income protection, private medical insurance, critical illness insurance, Employee Assistance Programme, counselling support, annual flu jab, discounts and rewards.
There are also family-friendly policies, monthly recognition awards, internal and external training, professional development support, paid volunteering time, charitable giving options, cycle to work and interest-free travel or vehicle loan options where applicable.
