Independent School – West London
Start Date: ASAP | Contract: Interim (Fixed-Term)
We are working with a highly regarded independent school in West London seeking an experienced and dynamic Interim SENCO to join them as soon as possible. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and shape the SEND provision within a supportive and well-resourced school environment.
The Role
As Interim SENCO, you will be responsible for leading the strategic and operational delivery of SEND provision across the school. You will work closely with senior leaders, teaching staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure all pupils receive the support they need to thrive academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities
*Lead and oversee the school’s SEND provision in line with the SEND Code of Practice
*Identify and assess pupils with additional needs, ensuring timely and effective interventions
*Monitor and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs) / Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
*Support and advise teaching staff on inclusive classroom practice
*Manage relationships with parents and external professionals (e.g., therapists, educational psychologists)
*Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and contribute to inspections
*Provide training and guidance to staff to promote best practice in inclusion
The Ideal Candidate
*Qualified teacher status (QTS)
*National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) or working towards
*Proven experience working as a SENCO, ideally within an independent or similar setting
*Strong knowledge of current SEND legislation and best practice
*Excellent communication, organisation, and leadership skills
*Ability to build strong relationships with staff, pupils, and parents
