Location: Swindon, Wiltshire
Salary: £32,000 - £55,000 OTE + Competitive Basic + Bonus + Benefits
OVERVIEW
An established and busy automotive retailer is seeking a skilled Vehicle Technician to join its workshop team in Swindon.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Technician to work within a modern, fast-paced dealership environment, carrying out servicing, diagnostics, repair work and vehicle health checks to manufacturer standards. The role offers strong earning potential through an efficient bonus structure, alongside ongoing training and development opportunities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Carry out servicing, maintenance and repair work across a range of vehicles.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic equipment.
• Complete vehicle health checks and identify additional repair opportunities.
• Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently and to manufacturer standards.
• Accurately record all work carried out on dealership systems.
• Liaise with Service Advisors and Workshop Controllers regarding job progress.
• Maintain high levels of productivity and quality of workmanship.
• Follow warranty procedures and compliance requirements.
• Support workshop efficiency and team performance targets.
• Participate in ongoing training and technical development.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
• Qualified Vehicle Technician (NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent).
• Previous experience in a franchised dealership or high-quality independent workshop.
• Strong diagnostic, mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced workshop environment.
• Team-focused with good communication skills.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE
• MOT Tester qualification.
• Manufacturer brand training or accreditation.
• Experience with advanced diagnostics or EV/hybrid systems.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
• Productivity (hours billed vs hours available).
• Efficiency and quality of workmanship.
• First-time fix rate.
• Workshop contribution to customer satisfaction.
• Warranty compliance and accuracy.
• Health and safety adherence.
