The Aurora Group is an innovative provider of education and care for children, young people and adults with special educational needs and disabilities.
We’re currently looking for an experienced Teacher in Leyland, Nr. Preston where our BrooklandsSchool provides specialist academic and therapeutic support in a welcoming environment for students aged 9-16 who face challenges associated with social, emotional and mental health needs.
The Role:
To deliver a high quality play based informal EYFS/KS1 curriculum to Key Stage 2 and 3 age pupils in classes no bigger than 8 students.
Key Responsibilities:
*To be responsible for the day to day running of the class and assist in other relevant aspects of the day to day running of the school.
*To assess, record and report pupils’ progress according the school’s policy in order to monitor and foster pupils’ progress in all areas of learning.
*To take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils according to the school’s policies, including safeguarding and PREVENT.
*To lead support and supervision sessions for Assistant Teachers and Higher Level Teaching Assistants including Professional Development Reviews.
*To attend and contribute to teachers’ meetings, multi-disciplinary meetings and any other relevant staff meetings.
*To ensure a high standard of personal care for the pupils, carefully monitoring the health and well-being of pupils informing the care staff, medical staff, behaviour support team and any other relevant professionals of any concerns.
Qualifications and Experience:
*PGCE, QTS, Cert Ed or equivalent teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training.
*Working knowledge of students with complex needs and SEND.
*Evidence of sound knowledge and understanding of the Early Years and KS1 curriculum.
*Knowledge, understanding and experience of autism, ADHD and associated complex conditions and how these can affect learning and behaviour.
*Evidence of a sound knowledge and understanding of emotional and sensory regulation
